Our custom shade sails are available in commercial quality heavy-duty shade cloth. We typically use Genplus 325 gsm (grams/square meter) or Coolaroo commercial 95 340 gsm weighted shade cloth. This fabric is designed to breathe and will keep anything underneath it almost 30 degrees cooler. Both fabrics are rated for a minimum of 10 years longevity. These particular fabrics are guaranteed too not fade, rot, sag, or mildew for at least 10 years. They are not 100% waterproof, however, they will resist a significant amount of rainfall.
Each custom-made shade sail is hand fabricated for quality and durability. The corners are reinforced with extra fabric as well as nylon seat belt webbing to ensure that they are able to withstand high winds. A stainless steel quality d-ring is then attached to the reinforced corner. A cable pocket is then sewn along the perimeter where a galvanized or optional stainless steel cable is inserted and then tied to the d-ring. Each cable is independently tied from one corner to the other. This gives the installer the flexibility of placing additional tension on the corner where it is needed most.
Please give us your face to face dimensions less 18 inches for hardware and proper tension. We will then take your dimensions and produce a computerized drawing showing you the actual size of the sails less the inward curvature. Shade sails are designed with an inward curve so that when tension is placed on the sail it will not sag. Properly installed shade sails will not sag or flap in the wind. Once you approve the design, we will then begin the fabrication process. Fabrication usually takes about 2 to 4 weeks, depending upon the season.
